The ninth international meeting of world pharmacopoeias (IMWP) was co-hosted by WHO and National Institute of Drug Quality Control (NIDQC), and was held in Da Nang, Viet Nam from 18 to 19 April 2018. 50 representatives from 13 national, regional and international pharmacopoeias participated actively in the meeting.
The participants agreed to use IMWP as a discussion forum to inform each other of recent challenges and share solutions found. This will be a standard agenda item on the IMWP meeting. The participants agreed to set up a “pharmacopoeial alert system” among the pharmacopoeias to exchange information on issues detected with products covered by monographs that necessitate urgent action by a pharmacopoeia. Also, it was agreed to the WHO Secretariat would put the link to reference standards of each pharmacopoeia on the WHO website.
