Online awards ceremony of the Health for All Film Festival

12 May 2020 17:30 – 18:00 CET

WHO receives nearly 1300 entries for inaugural film festival

For its inaugural Health for All Film Festival, WHO received 1265 submissions from more than 110 countries on a great diversity of health topics. A jury composed of critically-acclaimed artists and Senior WHO experts advised WHO's Director-General for winners and now is the time to reveal those prizes! This will happen on 12 May, coinciding with the International Day of Nurses, during a virtual online awards ceremony at 17:30 Geneva time. Some of our jurors will join and we'll make this ceremony entertaining, informative and interactive with the audience on Facebook. It will be a tribute to all champions of health! This live will also be on WHO Youtube channel and potentially other platforms from various WHO offices.

Filmmakers were invited to submit a short film for one of three categories: video reports, animation films or films about nurses/midwives (2020 is the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife). From the official selection partly available on Youtube (see links below) we will announce a GRAND PRIX for each of the category, a STUDENT PRIZE out of the three categories, and an additional NCDs FILM PRIZE from another special selection will be attributed.

The Health for All Film Festival aims to put storytelling power in the hands of film-makers and seeks to showcase the role of individuals and communities as champions for health and well-being. Film has a unique ability to make us feel, laugh, cry and think - to influence how we behave and the decisions we make. Filmmakers have the potential to influence health and catalyze change!
