8th WHO-ICN-ICM TRIAD Meeting and 9th GCNMO Forum

16 – 19 June 2020

On these pages you will find the material used during the 8th "TRIAD meeting" jointly hosted by the WHO, the International Council of Nurses, and the International Confederation of Midwives, and the 9th Government Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officers Forum.

The events this year were an unprecedented success. Over 600 nursing and midwifery leaders from ministries of health, national nursing and midwifery associations, regulators, WHO Collaborating Centers for Nursing and Midwifery, and the Nursing Now campaign participated from more than 145 countries – the largest global virtual gathering of nurses and midwifery leaders ever. The events were another major milestone in the International Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, after the publication on occasion of World Health Day of the WHO State of the world’s nursing 2020 report.

The resulting Triad Statement articulated the consensus and priority actions to advance nursing and midwifery agendas forward towards the response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the realization of Universal Health Coverage.
