24 September 2020 16:00 – 17:30 UTC Time

UNGA SIDE EVENT | 25 SEPTEMBER 2020 | FRIDAY

| 10:00-11:30 EST | 16:00-17:30 CEST | 21:00-22:30 ICT |

Co-Sponsors: WHO, Costa Rica

The COVID-19 crisis has demonstrated that ensuring the right to health of all citizens in all countries is a matter of utmost urgency, and that no one will be safe until everyone is safe. The pandemic knows no borders, and can only be tackled through an unprecedented effort of global solidarity and international cooperation. The impacts of the pandemic, however, are not felt equally across and within societies, and particular attention must be paid to leave no one behind in the response and recovery.

The high-level event, co-hosted by the President of Costa Rica, H. E. Carlos Alvarado Quesada and the World Health Organization, will feature a presentation of the vision and status of the COVID-19 Technology Access Pool (C-TAP), an update on latest developments on R&D for COVID-19 tools, and a call to Member States, intergovernmental and nongovernmental organizations, and other key stakeholders to endorse the “Solidarity Call to Action” towards ensuring the open knowledge exchange needed to develop the appropriate health tools to combat COVID-19.
