International Day of the Midwife: Release of the 2021 State of the World’s Midwifery Report

This year’s International Day of the Midwife (IDM) on 5th May 2021 is being celebrated under the theme of “ Follow the Data: Invest in Midwives”. The day coincides with the launch of the 2021 State of the World's Midwifery (SoWMy) Report. Developed by UNFPA (the UN sexual and reproductive health agency), WHO (World Health Organization) and International Confederation of Midwives (ICM), the report evaluates the midwifery workforce and related health resources in 194 countries and includes policy recommendations to improve sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn and adolescent health service delivery.
