World Drowning Prevention Day 2021 Webinar

28 July 2021 12:30 – 14:00 CET

An estimated 236,000 people drown every year, and drowning is among the ten leading causes of death for children and youth aged 1-24 years. More than 90% of drowning deaths occur in rivers, lakes, wells and domestic water storage vessels in low- and middle-income countries, with children and adolescents in rural areas disproportionately affected.

Join us in marking the first World Drowning Prevention Day with a virtual commemoration entitled “Global, national and local reflections on World Drowning Prevention Day 2021” to highlight celebrations around the world, explore priority actions in the field and generate momentum for drowning prevention to save lives.

The event will be held on 28 July, 12:30 – 14:00 Geneva time.
