#EndTB webinar on strengthening TB surveillance: a global synthesis of findings from national assessments, 2013–2020

30 September 2021 11:00 – 12:30 CET

The World Health Organization (WHO) Global TB Programme is organizing a special #EndTB webinar on strengthening TB surveillance on Thursday, 30 September 2021, 11:00 - 12:30 CET.

Since the development of standardised terms of reference for national TB epidemiological reviews in 2013 by the WHO Global Task Force on TB Impact Measurement, over 80 countries have carried out at least one review and 41 countries multiple reviews (see figure below). These reviews provide a national assessment of the TB surveillance system in the country, carry out detailed analyses of TB and other related data, and unveil critical insights on the progress towards national TB targets. They guide policy, planning and programmatic action through the routine use of relevant data and build analytical capacity at national and subnational levels.

Global status of national TB epidemiological reviews and surveillance assessments, 2013 – April 2020

This webinar will provide a global synthesis of findings and recommendations from national TB surveillance assessments and epidemiological reviews carried out between January 2013 and April 2020. This will be followed by a panel discussion and an interactive Q&A session.

“WHO is supporting countries to build and strengthen their national TB surveillance system capacity to enable effective planning, monitoring, and assessment of the impact of interventions and reliably track progress towards end TB targets. This is a vital element towards ensuring timely access to quality TB prevention and care.”  Tereza Kasaeva, Director, Global TB Programme.
