When: October 13, 2021.  14h00 - 15h00. Geneva time

Topic: How to develop a national list of essential in vitro diagnostics

WHO launched the first edition of the Model List of Essential In Vitro Diagnostics (EDL) in May 2018. This was followed by two further editions, in 2019 and  2021.

The WHO EDL is intended to support IVD policy development to improve people access to IVD testing and clinical laboratory services.  Since the first edition of the EDL, WHO has encouraged countries to develop national essential in vitro diagnostics lists (NEDL) based on the model of the WHO EDL and has recently published a guidance document to support countries with this endeavor.

This webinar delves into the EDL scope and contents, including the criteria for selecting IVD tests categories and the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on In Vitro Diagnostics (SAGE IVD). We will also present the proposed process for developing or updating an NEDL based on the evidence-based WHO EDL and the experience of Nigeria.

Please watch the video "Developing a national essential diagnostics list for a better access to diagnostics" (below) for an overview about: How can countries use the EDL to develop a national list?
