Technical expert meeting on selection and prioritization of noncommunicable disease primary care facility-based indicators

This meeting gathers noncommunicable disease (NCD) experts to review, select and prioritize facility-based indicators for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, hypertension and cancers such as breast cancer, cervical cancer and childhood cancer. 

Objectives of the meeting:
1. Inform experts on the initiative to promote standards for facility-based patient and programme monitoring for noncommunicable diseases, including a list of proposed facility-based indicators for early detection and management of asthma and COPD, diabetes, hypertension and cancers, specifically, breast cancer, cervical cancer and childhood cancer.
2. Gather experts’ opinions on the characteristics of suggested NCD indicators, considering standard clinical management guidelines, critical information needs to ensure an acceptable quality of service delivery at primary care level and monitoring challenges in limited-resource settings.
3. Obtain consensus among experts on a priority set of NCD facility-based indicators and  indicator definitions and other specifications such as disaggregation, measurement methods,  preferred data sources,  reporting cycles and targets.

This event will take place over 1 day in February (9 Feb) and 4 days in March (1-4 Mar). A report will be available shortly after the meeting has concluded. For further information, please contact ncdmonitoring@who.int.
