The WHO together with the UHC2030 and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies are hosting an event on Friday 24 June 2022 from 13:30 – 14:45 CET to discuss the new framework for health system performance assessment presented in the book: Health System Performance Assessment: A framework for Policy Analysis.
This framework links the performance of the four health system functions – financing (1), resource generation (2), governance (3) and service delivery (4) - to intermediate objectives and final goals of the health system.
This event brings together high-level country health decision-makers and international health system strengthening experts to elaborate on the political relevance of the framework and discuss strategies to increase the application of performance assessments in policy- and decision-making processes.
The HSPA framework will be presented by Irene Papanicolas, Associate Professor, London School of Economics and Political Science.
A round table discussion will include the following panelists:
- Maria Begoña Yarza, Minister of Health, Chile
- Ian Gooding-Edghill, Minister of Health and Wellness, Barbados
- Awad Mataria, Director, Universal Health Coverage & Health Systems, EMRO
Speakers will draw from their own experience and expertise to exemplify the dynamics that affect the attainment of health system goals and thereby create a comprehensive picture of the political and strategic significance of health system performance assessment.
