Live learning webinars: #healthtoo

30 November 2022 15:00 – 16:15 CET

Globally, 70% of the health and care workforce are women. Violence and harassment in the health care sector accounts for almost one in four of all reported cases and is 16 times more likely to affect health and care workers compared to other sectors.

Nurses are three times more likely to experience violence in the workplace than any other health professionals. The impact of workplace violence in the health sector is known to lower staff retention, affect physical and mental health of staff, reduce the quality of care provided and impose heavy costs upon women, health systems and societies.

To discuss this important agenda and to support International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women the WHO Nursing Midwifery Global Community of Practice is holding a webinar. Speakers include Elizabeth Iro, the Chief Nurse of the World Health Organization, Dr Kalkidan Lakew from Women in Global Health and Simone Sheridan, a Sexual Safety Nurse Consultant. The session will be moderated by Dr Gaya Gamhewage, the Director of Prevention of and Response to Sexual Misconduct at the World Health Organization.

The session will be broadcast in English with simultaneous translation into French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Russian.
