Leading Laboratories through Emergencies

15 November 2023 11:00 – 12:30 CET

In this webinar we discussed the essential skills and competencies needed to successfully lead a laboratory during an emergency response. We heard about the experiences of developing training programmes for leadership in emergencies, and the application of these skills and competencies at national level. We heard directly from laboratory managers about their experiences in leading others through the challenges of an outbreak, including the changing environment in Singapore during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a national public health response in Uganda through an outbreak of Sudan virus disease.

We welcomed:

Dr Katrina Litam (WHO Headquarters)

Dr Raymond Lin (National Centre for Infectious Diseases, Singapore)

Dr. Susan Nabadda Ndidde (Central Public Health Laboratories, Uganda)

Launched in May 2020, this knowledge sharing platform aims to enhance WHO guidance dissemination and best practice sharing among public health laboratories globally. WHO is grateful to the technical and financial partners who have helped to support and sustain this webinar series.
