Universal Health and Preparedness Review: first pilot global peer review

13 – 14 February 2024
Geneva, Switzerland

The first pilot global peer review of Universal Health and Preparedness Review (UHPR) will take place in Geneva on 13-14 February 2024. The Central African Republic, Portugal and Thailand will present the findings of their national review and will engage in a dialogue with other Member States.

As noted by the WHA75 UHPR Concept Note, the Universal Health and Preparedness Review is being organized in two phases: (1) a national review and (2) a global peer review. Between December 2021 and May 2023, five Member States volunteered to pilot the national review and will now share the results for global peer review.

This exercise will provide more information to Member States on some UHPR national experiences. It offers an interactive exchange between Member States on the benefits of a peer review mechanism, in the context of ongoing negotiations in the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body and the IHR Working Group.

The presentation and other supporting documents will be accessible ahead of the meeting at WHO | Member States Programmatic Information session.
