Global Online Dialogue: Integrating Knowledge Translation and Implementation Research

11 March 2024 12:00 – 13:00 UTC Time

The World Health Organization (WHO)/Research for Health Department and Karolinska Institutet are set to host a high-profile virtual dialogue on the interfaces of Knowledge Translation and Implementation Research, joining forces with the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research and researchers from Makerere University. The event “Research to Action: Connecting Knowledge Translation and Implementation Research,” aims to bring these two fields closer together, leveraging their potential to bridge the gap between research and practice towards impact in the health sector.

Sustainable health practices hinge on translating research findings into actionable solutions. While this concept may appear straightforward, the journey from research to policy and, ultimately, implementation is often intricate and time-consuming. Knowledge translation and implementation research are two critical pillars that facilitate the transformation of evidence into tangible health interventions. Even though these two fields have much in common, there is an uncomfortable distance between them. It’s time to strengthen the dialogue between the fields, allowing for synergies and greater impact capacity for both. The event will be a first step in this journey.

Who Should Attend?

This virtual dialogue welcomes a diverse audience, including:

  • Decision-Makers: Policy-makers and leaders shaping health agendas.
