Are you ready for the unexpected? Keys for effective national and global communication on food incidents

11 June 2024 15:00 – 16:00 CET
Virtual meeting

Join FAO/WHO International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN) for a webinar in celebration of World Food Safety Day, hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO). This year, World Food Safety Day campaign focuses on the theme "Food safety: prepare for the unexpected", highlighting the importance of good risk management and risk communication practices during unexpected food safety incidents.

Without appropriate preparedness measures, food safety incidents can quickly escalate into international emergencies, affecting multiple countries and risking the health of people worldwide. Effective communication is crucial in mitigating these risks, as it enables rapid information sharing, ultimately reducing the burden of foodborne illnesses.

The webinar will feature a presentation on INFOSAN’s mechanisms for identifying, reporting, and responding to food safety incidents worldwide. This online gathering also gives an opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary of INFOSAN. The webinar will include a Q&A session with the online audience.
