Background
Following the establishment of the Quadripartite collaboration on One Health (OH) in March 2022, the first Quadripartite Executive Annual Meeting (QEAM 1) was held in Geneva in March 2023, chaired by WHO, and the second (QEAM 2) took place in Nairobi in March 2024, chaired by UNEP.
The QEAM serves as a platform to assess the progress of the previous year, define the strategic direction for the coming year, and align the Quadripartite joint work plan to ensure a harmonized One Health agenda globally. Since 1 April, 2024, WOAH has undertaken the role of the Chair, overseeing the coordination of the four organizations’ activities, with a focus on the strategic priorities for 2024-2025: 1) implementation of the One Health Joint Plan of Action (OH JPA), 2) Data, knowledge, science and evidence, 3) political engagement and advocacy, and 4) leveraging investment for OH including the Quadripartite Secretariat.
Over the past year, the Quadripartite has achieved significant milestones in each of these strategic priorities. Progress has been made in advancing the OH JPA through regional workshops, capacity-building efforts, and international collaborations, focusing on integrating One Health into national policies, health systems, and global commitments.
The purpose of this meeting is to review the progress, achievements, and activities of the Quadripartite since QEAM 2, whilst providing strategic guidance on priority areas and actions for the coming year and beyond, at both global and regional levels. The meeting will also aim to review successes and challenges related to political advocacy, OH governance and investment to sustain and expand One Health initiatives.
The QEAM 3 will be held on 25-27 March 2025, at the Headquarters of WOAH in Paris, France, in hybrid format. The sessions are designed to facilitate strategic decision-making and technical collaboration, bringing together senior leadership and technical teams to advance the One Health agenda.
