Around 1.3 billion persons with disabilities continue to face significant health inequities. Many are linked to how health systems are financed. High out-of-pockets costs, narrow benefit packages and the lack of funding for accessibility and reasonable accommodations keep essential services out of reach.
To commemorate International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the International Disability Alliance is hosting a webinar together with the World Health Organization on disability-inclusive health financing. The session will examine current financing models, highlight barriers that lead to exclusion, and present strategies to enhance equity through Universal Health Coverage packages.
