The 50th Session of the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) took place from 3-7 of April at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
WHO’s Dr Nata Menabde delivered a statement on this year’s CPD theme changing population age structures and sustainable development and emphasized the importance of investing in women and girls to promote their sexual and reproductive health and rights, along with ensuring health of the population in achieving the SDGs. WHO also hosted a side event with international experts to discuss what evidence is needed, by countries and global communities, to support rights-based approaches to sexual and reproductive health.
