Full results from a large WHO-coordinated study in Benin, Cameroon, India, Kenya and Sudan have now been released. The research team representing over 20 institutions concluded that long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) still provide a significant level of protection against malaria, even where mosquitoes are resistant to pyrethroids (the insecticide class used in LLINs). Co-authors of the study, published in Lancet Infectious Diseases, urge that LLIN use be continued.
