FAO/WHO Codex Trust Fund paternering with the European Union

Building Codex Globally

As part of a multi-donor Trust Fund, the European Union’s contribution of US$ 4,433,802 supported the activities of the FAO/WHO Codex Trust Fund between 2003 and 2016. Since the new Codex Trust Fund (CTF) was initiated in 2016, the European Union has continued its support and was the first donor to make a multi-year contribution of US$ 764,336 to the Codex Trust Fund.

The European Union’s support is helping build strong sustainable national capacity to engage fully and effectively in Codex

 

Examples of results in Round 1 countries include:

Ghana - Development of a national procedural manual to guide Codex work in the country.

Kyrgyzstan - Harmonization of ten new national standards with Codex standards..

Senegal - Development of communication and advocacy materials to raise awareness among policy/decision-makers of the importance of Codex to economic and social development.

Madagascar and Ghana- Development of national Codex websites
