Health leaders have called for a far more intensified response to tuberculosis and HIV in an article published in the run up to the 18th International Aids Conference (IAC). Their call, made in The Lancet, urges the need for stronger national and global leadership, greater integration of tuberculosis and HIV services, decentralization of care, and investment in new tools. The call was made by the Minister of Health for Ethiopia, Tedros Adhanom Gherbreyesus; the Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Michel Kazatchkine; the Executive Director of the Joint UN Programme on HIV/AIDS, Michel Sidibé; and WHO Assistant Director-General, Hiroki Nakatani.
