#HeroesEndingPolio

Ronald,
barangay captain

During the campaign, Ronald went around the village together with health workers. He shares how they help vaccination teams in their community:

“I have children. My secretary is a person with a disability who has polio. So I don’t want this to happen to the people in my barangay (village). I feel sad for them and I don’t want them to grow up that way.

That’s why I, together with my councilors, staff, and committee leaders, are one in this fight to end polio in our barangay.

In terms of manpower, we have with us our health workers. For logistics, the barangay is also here. We also have with us personnel who are going around to convince parents to vaccinate their children.

We have a public address system. We go around every street. And then we stick the polio campaign flyers. We also have a jingle that we play.

We always say to everyone that there’s no ‘ouch’ in the polio drops. Let’s go out there, or if they can’t wait for the vaccinators at home, they can also go to the health centre.”
