WHO further supports the Department of Health in surveillance and information management systems

WHO Philippines, with support from the people of Japan, continues to work with the Department of Health (DOH) to enhance surveillance and information management capacities, especially for people working in the Yolanda-affected areas of the Philippines.

On July 10, WHO Philippines handed over four units of Lenovo laptops, one unit of Epson LCD Projector, one unit of Huawei Mobile Wi-Fi E5372 and a unit of HP Laserjet printer to the National Epidemiology Center at the DOH.

“WHO and the DOH are working together to make sure the Philippines has the best possible surveillance systems in place to prevent disease outbreaks, especially when disaster strikes,” said WHO Representative in the Philippines Dr Julie Hall.

The new equipment will be will be solely used for Public Health Surveillance and Informatics Division activities.
