SARS-CoV-2 variant risk evaluation framework, 30 August 2023

Overview

It is critical to provide a regular evaluation of the public health risk posed by SARS-CoV-2 variants as evidence emerges so that appropriate public health action can be taken. Assessing the strength of the evidence and associated confidence is a complex process that requires multidisciplinary expertise. This document, which provides the method for SARS-CoV-2 variant risk evaluation that WHO will use in collaboration with experts in countries, helps with the interpretation of the evidence and provides a framework to evaluate risk considering key indicators.
