Report of the second joint meeting (hybrid) of the WHO Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety and the WHO Advisory Committee on Safety of Medicinal Products, 14–16 December 2022
Weekly Epidemiological Record

Overview
The Global Advisory Committee on Vaccine Safety (GACVS) was established in 1999 to provide independent, authoritative scientific advice to WHO on vaccine safety issues of global or regional concern. The Advisory Committee on Safety of Medicinal Products (ACSoMP) was established in 2003 as an independent body for all WHO programmes that have a medicines component. Over the years, WHO has convened independent meetings of the 2 committees. In 2020, the 2 teams were merged into 1 pharmacovigilance (PVG) team. WHO plans to complement the independent meetings of ACSoMP and GACVS with a joint meeting of the 2 committees at least once a year, to provide expert advice on areas of pharmacovigilance that are common to both medicines and vaccines. A summary of the presentations and recommendations from the vaccine specific sessions and from sessions of common interest for pharmacovigilance of both medicines and vaccines is provided below.
