Volume 1 contains the guideline values themselves together with an explanation of how they should be used, the criteria used in selecting the various contaminants considered, a description of the approaches used to derive the guideline values, and brief summary statements supporting the values recommended or explaining why no health-based guideline value is necessary at present.
