Overview

The WHO Academy: annual report 2024 highlights a landmark year marked by the official opening of the Academy’s state-of-the-art campus in Lyon, France, and the launch of its global online learning platform. Designed to transform lifelong learning in health, the Academy addresses critical gaps in health worker education by offering high-quality, accessible training aligned with WHO and Member States’ priorities.

In 2024, the Academy significantly expanded its course offerings, launched flagship programmes in biomanufacturing, One Health, and Healthy Cities, and strengthened partnerships with governments, academic institutions, and global health organizations. The report outlines progress across five strategic objectives, including the development of innovative learning content, the creation of learner-centred courses, the promotion of global learning ecosystems, the establishment of quality standards, and the fostering of a culture of continuous learning within WHO.

With over 192 courses available in 12 languages and a growing network of partners, the WHO Academy is rapidly becoming a global leader in lifelong learning. This report captures the Academy’s results and its commitment to equipping the world’s 65 million health and care workers with the skills they need to improve health outcomes and respond to future challenges.
