Mission Report
Overview
South Sudan conducted its second Joint External Evaluation (JEE) of its International Health Regulations (IHR) core capacities from 16–20 September 2024. The evaluation aimed to identify areas for improvement and strengthening of the essential capacities needed to effectively detect, prevent and respond to public health emergencies. The evaluation spanned 19 technical areas broadly categorized under Prevent, Detect, Respond and Other IHR-related hazards, with the overarching goal of guiding the nation’s development of its comprehensive National Action Plan for Health Security. This JEE was a collaborative effort involving national experts and international stakeholders, including the World Health Organization (WHO) and technical experts from various countries and institutions.
