Report of the 18th FAO/WHO Joint Meeting on Pesticide Management, Geneva, Switzerland and online, 7-10 October 2025

Overview

The 18th Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)/World Health Organization (WHO) Joint Meeting on Pesticide Management (JMPM) was hosted by WHO at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland on 7–10 October 2025. It was a hybrid meeting in which participants met physically or joined online.

The meeting agenda included the following topics:

• summary of developments and actions since the 17th JMPM meeting in 2024;
• status of follow-up actions taken on the recommendations of the 17th JMPM meeting;
• review of the International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management (“Code of Conduct”) at the request of COAG 29 for the inclusion of free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) for Indigenous Peoples;
• revision of existing guidance;
• review of new guidance under development;
• emerging and priority issues and planning the development of new guidance;
• review and endorsement of Terms of Reference of the JMPM;
• review and endorsement of standard operating procedures (SOP) for the development of guidance; and
• any other issues.
