Overview

This issue of WHO Drug Information presents Recommended International Nonproprietary Names (INN) List No. 96 for pharmaceutical substances. The names have been selected by the World Health Organization in accordance with the Procedure for the Selection of Recommended International Nonproprietary Names for Pharmaceutical Substances. Inclusion of a name in the list does not imply any recommendation by WHO concerning the use of the corresponding substance in medicine or pharmacy.

The publication provides the recommended INN in Latin, English, French and Spanish and, for each substance, presents relevant identification and characterization information, including the chemical name or description, molecular formula and graphic formula, where applicable. By establishing internationally recognized nonproprietary names for pharmaceutical substances, the list forms part of WHO’s continuing INN documentation and provides the latest set of names selected through the established WHO procedure.
