The global plan to stop TB 2011-2015: transforming the fight towards elimination of tuberculosis
Transforming the fight towards elimination of tuberculosis – reprinted with changes, 2011

Overview
The end of 2010 marks the mid-point of the Global Plan to Stop TB 2006–2015, and is a natural time to update the plan with a focus on the final five years leading up to the target year of 2015. There are several other reasons why the original document had to be revised. There was a need to take into account actual progress made since 2006, significant changes in policy and costs related to antiretroviral therapy, two updates to the MDR-TB component of the plan (in 2007 and 2009), one update to estimates of epidemiological burden and trends, the importance of giving a higher profile to laboratory strengthening and the necessity to address the full spectrum of research.
The Global Plan to Stop TB 2011–2015 retains the full spirit of its predecessor while providing a clearer blueprint for action, setting out what needs to be done to achieve the 2015 targets set within the context of the MDGs and by the Stop TB Partnership.
