The status of digital health implementation: a rapid assessment

Overview

The eighth annual report on Monitoring progress on universal health coverage and the health-related Sustainable Development Goals in the WHO South-East Asia Region – 2023 update provides a comprehensive overview of the status and trends for the 46 health-related SDG indicators and the additional five indicators for the WHO Thirteenth General Programme of Work for all 11 Member States of the Region.

Now at the mid-point to the 2030 timeline, the report presents the patterns of change in recent years in the areas of maternal and child health, malnutrition, infectious diseases, noncommunicable diseases and risk factors, mental health, injuries, environmental health, financial protection, health workforce, and health security.

The thematic focus of this year’s report is ‘The status of digital health implementation in the SE Asia Region – a rapid assessment’. This is a proxy measure of digital health maturity in the Region as a paramount accelerator of progress towards UHC and the health-related SDG targets. The highlight of the report is the section on enhanced country profiles on the health-related SDGs and the status of digital health implementation.
