The manual provides a step-wise decision algorithm for the treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis taking into consideration the Leishmania strains present in the Region. Annexes include detailed standard operating procedures for diagnosis and various treatment options.

The manual also emphasizes the importance of monitoring and evaluation to continuously assess the effectiveness of the approach used for case management. It provides a set of indicators for evaluation and additional annexes provide templates for surveillance data collection and reporting.
