Overview

The tenth annual report on Monitoring progress on universal health coverage and the health-related Sustainable Development Goals in the South-East Asia Region – 2025 update provides a comprehensive analysis of regional and country-level trends in health-related SDG indicators, alongside five additional indicators from the WHO Thirteenth General Programme of Work (GPW13). It tracks progress across all 10 Member States, comparing achievements against global targets using the most recent data, and highlights areas of advancement as well as critical gaps that require accelerated action to achieve UHC and the health-related SDGs by 2030.

The thematic focus of this year’s report is “Progress on the decade for strengthening the role of the health sector for improving civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS) in the South-East Asia Region (2015–2024)”. The report documents how Member States have advanced the completeness of birth and death registration, improved cause-of-death reporting, and strengthened health sector linkages with CRVS systems through the Regional Action Framework on CRVS in Asia and the Pacific.

A key highlight of the report is the enhanced set of country profiles, which present evidence-based progress on UHC, the health-related SDGs, and CRVS system development. These profiles serve as practical tools to support Member States in tracking outcomes, identifying persistent gaps, and prioritizing investments to accelerate progress toward the 2030 agenda.
