Strategic plan for measles and rubella elimination in WHO South-East Asia Region: 2020–2024

Overview
The Seventy-second session of the Regional Committee for WHO South-East Asia Region in September 2019 adopted the revised goal of 'measles and rubella elimination by 2023'. To provide strategic direction and framework for all Member States to achieve the measles and rubella elimination goal by 2023, the Regional Committee also endorsed the 'Strategic plan for measles and rubella elimination in WHO South-East Asia Region: 2020-2024'. The strategic plan was developed after consultation with Member States, experts, professional bodies and academia based on years of experience in implementing vaccine preventable disease eradication, elimination and control activities in the Region and incorporates all the lesson learnt from the implementation of the previous strategic plan. This publication provides the details of the strategic plan endorsed by the Regional Committee in 2019 and includes the goals, strategic objectives, guiding principles, key milestones and proposed activities to accelerate progress towards measles and rubella elimination for the period 2020 to 2024.
