Monitoring progress on universal health coverage and the health-related Sustainable Development Goals in the South-East Asia Region, 2026

The eleventh annual report on Monitoring progress on universal health coverage and the health-related Sustainable Development Goals in the South-East Asia Region – 2026 compiles the best and most recent scientific evidence on the regional and country-level trends of the health-related SDG indicators, alongside the revised monitoring framework for universal health coverage (UHC). It tracks progress across all 10 Member States, comparing achievements against global targets using the most recent data, highlighting areas of advancement as well as critical gaps to achieve the 2030 goals.

The thematic focus of this year's report is “Leveraging Climate Change Monitoring for Public Health Action in the South-East Asia Region”. The chapter examines the health impacts of climate change and highlights the importance of climate-informed health surveillance and monitoring towards building more resilient health systems. It presents a set of climate and health indicators to support evidence-based decision-making and explores opportunities to strengthen adaptation, preparedness, resilience and mitigation through climate-smart health systems.

A key highlight of the report is the enhanced set of country profiles tracking progress towards UHC and the health-related SDGs, and four thematic domains of climate and health data. Together, these country profiles can improve the use of data to draw attention to persisting gaps, accountability, and action for scaling up equitable coverage of priority health interventions
