Overview
The Second Regional Consultation on the SEAHEARTS: Accelerating prevention and control
of CVDs in the South-East Asia Region (SEA/RC76/R5) initiative was conducted virtually on
the 24th of July 2025 (Annexure 1). Officially nominated Ministry of Health officials from
Member States responsible for NCD risk factors control and the management of hypertension
and diabetes, and technical staff of WHO country offices and regional office participated in
this consultation. Annexure 2 provides the details of the participants.
The aim of the consultation was:
- To collaboratively review the progress of Member States achievements on SEAHEARTS milestones.
- To identify and analyze the strengths, challenges, and lessons learned in implementing SEAHEARTS initiatives across the region and to plan the accelerated actions to reach the SEAHEARTS milestones by December 2025.
- To discuss the framework for defining expanded and extended regional milestones for 2030, ensuring alignment with global NCD targets and Sustainable Development Goals.
