Global surveillance of COVID-19: WHO process for weekly reporting aggregated data, updated 25 August 2023
Overview
The Weekly Reporting Form is the designated Excel tool for capturing and reporting the COVID-19 detailed surveillance data. This tool is a modification of the previous versions which reflects the current COVID-19 detailed surveillance reporting requirements following the lifting of PHEIC and the subsequent changes in the reporting.
Like the previous version, the tool is comprised of three components: procedures, the main data entry page, and a data dictionary page. The procedure page provides instructions on how the data should be entered. The data entry page, which is the main interface, is where the weekly aggregated data are inputted. It consists of all the indicators required for reporting and includes new confirmed cases, new confirmed deaths, new confirmed deaths by age disaggregation, new cases hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment, new cases admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) for COVID-19 treatment, and persons tested for COVID-19. Other important elements include the reporting country, week start and end dates, and automatized weeks. The tool is to be used by Member States to share the surveillance data weekly.
