Côte d’Ivoire: Ebola Preparedness Strengthening Team country visit

Overview
As part of a programme to help countries that are not yet affected but are faced with possible importation of Ebola virus disease (EVD), WHO and EVD response partners dispatched a mission to Côte d’Ivoire on 27–31 October 2014 to strengthen preparedness and the tools already in place. The general objective of the mission was to ensure that Côte d’Ivoire is as operationally ready as possible to respond safely and effectively to EVD through rapid detection, investigation, immediate notification and effective management to prevent a large-scale outbreak.
At the end of the mission, the recommendations were made to the national authorities on coordination, budget, epidemiological surveillance, rapid response teams, monitoring contact cases, public awareness and community engagement, management of points of entry.
