Advancing multidisciplinary approaches to public health emergencies in the African Region

Integrated outbreak analytics workshop report, Dakar, Senegal, 26-28 November 2024

Overview

The Integrated outbreak analytics (IOA) workshop, held in Dakar, Senegal, and hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO) headquarters and the Regional Office for Africa, convened over 40 participants representing Ministries of Health, national public health agencies, and international organizations. Its objective was to refine and promote the adoption of IOA as a transformative approach for responding to public health emergencies. This landmark event underscored the critical role of multidisciplinary and interagency collaboration in addressing the growing complexity of outbreaks in the African Region. Representatives from ten Member States and two regional offices (the WHO Regional Office for Africa and the WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean) were leading rich discussions on national experiences and lessons learned.
