Routine vaccination coverage – worldwide, 2024

Overview

In 2024, global coverage with the first and third doses of diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis-containing vaccines remained below pre-pandemic levels, while the estimated number of zero-dose children exceeded the 2019 baseline. Measles vaccination coverage improved slightly compared with 2023 but had not fully recovered. Coverage trends differed across WHO regions, and fragile, conflict-affected and vulnerable settings continued to account for a disproportionate share of unvaccinated children. Coverage with several newer vaccines increased compared with previous years; however, current trends remain insufficient to achieve IA2030 goals. The report emphasizes continued monitoring of inequalities, context-specific strategies and renewed attention to equity to restore immunization coverage and strengthen progress towards global immunization objectives.
