Overview
The most striking improvement which has been recorded in the field of rabies over the past few years is a very drastic reduction in the number of human rabies deaths in some Asian countries. This decrease is most certainly linked to the increased availability of efficacious and safe cell-culture rabies vaccines for human use rather than to the implementation of effective control measures in the dog population. This phenomenon has been documented in two Asian countries, namely China and Thailand.
