Lymphatic Filariasis: Progress report on mass drug administration in 2001

Overview
Lymphatic filariasis is endemic in 80 countries and more than 1.1 billion people worldwide are estimated to be at risk. At the end of 2001, a total of 25 479 136 personshad received mass drug administration in 22 countries participating in the Programme to Eliminate Lymphatic filariasis (PELF). This is a marked increase compared to 2000, when only 12 countries participated and 3 million persons at risk were covered.Editors
