WHO/BS/2023.2446 WHO 1st IS for anti-citrulinated protein/peptide antibodies

Overview

The World Health Organization (WHO) Expert Committee on Biological Standardization (ECBS) in 2017 recognized the need for an International Standard (IS) for Anti-Citrullinated Protein/Peptide Antibodies (ACPA) used for the calibration of immunoassays to measure ACPA in human plasma and serum. An international collaborative study was conducted to evaluate the candidate IS, 18/204 produced from serum samples of patients with RA; processed, filled, and freeze-dried at NIBSC. The study consisted of 27 laboratories from 14 countries and included university laboratories, manufacturers/developers of ACPA assays and public health laboratories.
