Achieving universal access and net-zero emissions by 2050
A global roadmap for just and inclusive clean cooking transition
Overview
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030’s target for universal access to clean cooking and the overarching ambition for achieving net-zero by 2050 will be missed unless a significant expansion of current efforts to increase energy access is in place. Transitioning the cooking sector to net-zero emissions emerges as a pivotal and economically viable strategy for attaining the global energy sector’s 2050 net-zero emission target and for limiting the global temperature rise to within 1.5 degrees Celsius. This document presents a comprehensive global action plan, pinpointing essential milestones and prioritized measures to ensure a just and inclusive transition towards net-zero emissions in the cooking sector by 2050.
