Background documents for development of WHO Guidelines for drinking-water quality and Guidelines for safe recreational water environments

Overview
Anatoxin-a and analogues, bentazone, chromium, cylindrospermopsins, iodine, microcystins, organotins, saxitoxins, tetrachloroethene and trichloroethene are included in the rolling revision of the GDWQ and the new or revised background documents have been published. These background documents will inform the development of the GDWQ 4th edition, incorporating the 2nd addendum. The cyanotoxin background documents (anatoxin-a, cylindrospermopsins, microcystins and saxitoxins) will also inform the update of the WHO Guidelines for safe recreational water environments.
The recommendations in these background documents, including any changes in guideline values, supersede the recommendations in the GDWQ, 4th edition, incorporating the 1st addendum, published in 2017. Both the updated drinking-water and recreational water guidelines will be published later in 2021.
All links to the chemical background documents can be found in the attached report.
