ATC 52nd Executive Summary

Overview

During the 52^nd Meeting of the WHO International Working Group for Drug Statistics Methodology, totally 69 new ATC 5^th level codes were established in addition to eight new ATC 4^th levels and one ATC 3^rd level.

One ATC code objection was discussed, resulting in maintenance of the temporary ATC code.

A public consultation process on two alternatives for reclassification of L04AA Selective immunosuppressants was held prior to the meeting and the alternative of assigning new ATC 4^th levels in L04A based on the pharmacological mechanism of action of the substances was decided. Six of the new ATC 4^th levels established were assigned in connection with the revision of L04AA.

A total of 36 ATC code alterations was decided at the meeting, 34 of them in connection with the revision of L04AA.

DDDs for 12 new single substances were assigned in addition to five DDDs for combination products. One objection to a temporary DDD and one DDD alteration request were discussed, both DDDs were maintained.

All new temporary ATC codes and alterations are published at the ATC/DDD Centre’s website and in WHO Drug Information with deadline for objections 1^st February 2023.
