Minutes of the inaugural meeting of the Malaria Elimination Certification Panel

Overview

On 13–14 December 2017, WHO convened the Malaria Elimination Certification Panel (MECP) for its first meeting to review and discuss 2 draft guides on certification, the internal operating procedures for the MECP and the expected certification plan for 2018.

The MECP is charged with recommending to WHO GMP whether malaria elimination can be certified in applicant countries based on WHO criteria, including the guidance contained in the Framework. Two guides on the certification of malaria elimination have been drafted: one is to support countries to prepare for certification and the other is to guide the certification activities of the MECP and WHO.
