Overview
The 3rd World Local Production Forum (WLPF), held in April 2025 in Abu Dhabi, was organized by the Local Production and Assistance (LPA) Unit, WLPF Secretariat, in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, and brought together a broad and diverse global community committed to advancing local production of quality-assured health products to strengthen health equity, global health security, and sustainable development. Against the backdrop of persistent and emerging health threats, including rising noncommunicable diseases, climate change, and antimicrobial resistance, the forum served as a catalyst for strategic dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange among governments, international organizations, financial institutions, academia, civil society, and the private sector. It galvanized commitment around key priorities such as ecosystem strengthening, voluntary technology transfer, regulatory harmonization, digital transformation, and green production.
The recommendations emerging from the 3rd WLPF aim to accelerate concrete, coordinated action toward building resilient, sustainable, and inclusive local production ecosystems aligned with national and regional priorities. The WLPF initiative will continue, with the next forum planned for 2027. All stakeholders are encouraged to remain actively engaged and support the implementation of these recommendations to deliver tangible impact for public health globally.
