Tool for Assessment of Rehabilitation Services and Systems
Overview
Many countries face significant barriers to the provision of vision rehabilitation, assistive technology and assistance and support services for people with irreversible vision impairment. These include insufficient numbers of appropriately trained professionals, absence of facilities and equipment, and a lack of integration and decentralization of services. Vision rehabilitation is vital in ensuring people with vision impairment can participate fully in social, economic, political and cultural aspects of life.
The Tool for the assessment of rehabilitation services and systems has been designed to assist countries to undertake a situational analysis to obtain essential information to understand which services are available for people with low vision and blindness, and the gaps that need to be addressed.
